South Carolina Dialogue Foundation hosted a Turkish Master calligrapher on September 21-30, 2012 in Clemson, Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston. He made presentations at:

He presented the history, styles, and techniques of Turkish calligraphy. He also presented of finest illustrations of traditional form and also made a live performance on Calligraphy. After his presentation, the participants had their personalized calligraphy on marbling-style painted papers.

Aydın Cayır was born in Istanbul. After graduation from Marmara University School of Islamic Theology, he got his master degree on pedagogy. Mr. Cayir was interested in the art of classical calligraphy since his high school years and later on, this interest grew in him to include the Latin calligraphy. He displayed his art and held exhibitions in Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, Japan, Romania and the United States. He has represented Turkey in several art and cultural festivals worldwide. He describes calligraphy as the art of giving form to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skillful manner.
